Sure, your treasure trove of fonts looks impressive and all, but were any of them created by artificial intelligence?
Popular graphic creation and editing app Picsart is expanding its arsenal of machine-learning tools, this time recruiting AI as its newest type designer. The platform has rolled out a whole collection of AI-generated fonts, the result of an in-house hackathon that ended up growing into something real.
At the time of launch, the library is home to over 30 never-before-seen fonts, and the app intends to add new fonts every month for use in the Picsart Gold tier.

The AI is trained on a large dataset of typefaces, allowing it to develop an eye for letters, symbols, and numbers—and then create glyphs on its own with some prompting from a set of keywords or tags.
To illustrate, all the AI-generated fonts in the initial collection are based on real people and their personality traits, which were used as input to help the design process along.
With the given data, the technology is able to generate thousands of glyphs, converting them into a vectorized image. The samples are then examined for quality control, and the selected characters are compiled into a TTF or OTF font file.
“In the last decade, we’ve seen a shift in written communication becoming increasingly visual,” describes Anush Ghambaryan, Picsart’s Director of AI and Machine Learning. “As the demand for visual communication increases, so does the demand for new and unlimited options for creation… This new technology opens the door for infinite font creation.”

The platform’s Chief Scientist Humphrey Shi shares that the technology could help designers, creators, and businesses cut down on cost and time, as well as “increase the possibilities for design and communication.”
The company revealed last month that it would be sharing the APIs of its advanced editing tools with creators and brands in hopes to “democratize creativity.” A spokesperson for Picsart now tells DesignTAXI that the AI-generated fonts will join this program.
The AI-designed fonts are now available on the Picsart app and website.
