While excitement ramps up for the fast-approaching Apple ‘Far Out’ event taking place on September 7, Meta has announced its own one-day Connect Conference scheduled for October 11, 2022.
“It’s that time of year again Quest fam. Join us to hear from experts and innovators on their vision of what’s to come. What’s the future of the metaverse? How do we create more connected worlds?” the technology giant tweets.
The company says the virtual event would bring users on a journey to explore “the building of the metaverse and the future of augmented and virtual reality.”
Industry leaders will present the latest technologies, with follow-up developer sessions on how to best use them.
According to Input, the most anticipated launch on the day is likely the new Quest VR headset, which Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg revealed was being released on a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience.
It’s said the new device will have a focus on “social presence,” with eye- and face-tracking that captures users’ expressions in real-time, and that it may even incorporated some mixed reality features.
Rumors are that it’ll be a “big upgrade” over the Oculus Quest 2, so get your wallets ready for a price tag that may hit four digits. Tune in to the event live on October 11 here.
