Google has introduced a new feature that enables site owners to report an indexing issue in Google Search Console.
At the moment, only users in the US are able to use it.
The feature is being tested through a pilot program that began in 2020, which enabled users to report any urgent bugs or other related security issues.
And now Google has decided to expand the feature to indexing issues.
They will reassess the feature and its usefulness within the next few weeks to see whether it would be helpful to keep the feature in the future and continue its global rollout.
If they decide to keep it, we will be able to report any indexing related issues directly to their search team.
For reporting an indexing issue, a verified Search Console account is required.
Only registered users can access the form.
It gives you two options to choose from:
1. My website or web page is not indexed
2. My website or web page is indexed but not properly ranked
After choosing one of the above, they will guide you through a series of questions to help you identify and debug the issue you are experiencing.
If they fail to help you resolve the issue on your own and it becomes clear that the problem is not on your end, you’re then able to submit the form.
According to Google, the form should be used only as a last resort.
You should look for help to resolve any issues through community forums and support documentation.
If you’re unable to find a solution on those platforms, then you can reach out by submitting a form.
To access the form, you must first sign in to your Search Console account.
You can find the button for the form in the footer of the URL inspection help document and the indexing coverage survey document.
We all want our pages to show up in SERPs, and we need Google to index and keep reindexing them because frequent indexing will improve our search results.
The form is going to open a new door for Google, site owners and SEOs to communicate through.
Indexing related issues can happen a lot, and having this new feature will allow us to identify and quickly resolve issues on either end.
