Angel Phuket Tours: The largest historical URL audit in the programme

A decade of tour URLs, campaign landing pages and syndicated posts audited per URL, split cleanly into keep, 301 and 410.

Challenge

The site had the deepest URL history in the network — a mix of genuine tour pages with real backlinks and impressions, defunct seasonal campaign pages, and syndicated aggregator posts from an earlier content-marketing era.

Audit

Union of live crawl, Wayback, GSC and Semrush backlink targets produced the master inventory. Each URL was classified against the decision framework: backlinks OR impressions OR memorable slug ⇒ 301; else 410.

Implementation

Genuine tour URLs preserved as canonical routes. Legitimate historical variants 301'd to their current equivalent. Aggregator and campaign noise 410'd. Zero chains. Zero loops. No homepage dumping.

Validation

Every historical URL now has a documented outcome. Post-launch crawl confirms the redirect register matches implementation exactly.

Outcome

Search authority concentrated on the canonical tour pages that actually convert. Historical debt eliminated.

Lessons learned

Homepage-dumping legacy URLs is the tempting shortcut and the wrong answer. It destroys entity signals more thoroughly than a 410 does. The 301 vs 410 decision must be made per URL, not per pattern.
