Alana and Peter’s McLaren Vale Micro wedding — Adelaide Marriage Celebrant Camille Abbott

Alana and Peter's wedding plans (like so many engaged couples worldwide) were thrown into disarray in 2020.

Between the NSW border closures due to COVID-19 and their original venue in Byron Bay burning down (true story!) Peter and Alana tried for a 3rd and final time to have a super low-key, no stress day just for them and their immediate family.

Something simple, but beautiful, elegant, but without any pretence.

Enter Emily from Ever After Event Hire who styled and coordinated their gorgeous micro wedding.

A stunning colour palette featuring terracotta red linen napkins, reflexed blush roses, dried foliage and worn wicker baskets came together to create a dream-like atmosphere for Peter, Alana and their 10 very special guests.

The lovely Miranda from OhWild snapped the newlyweds and Down The Rabbit Hole Wines provided the calm and good vibes (plus the food and drink obvs).

Alana and Peter chose to write their own wedding vows (with a little assistance and advice from me) and kept them a surprise from each other until the moment they read them aloud during the ceremony.

I knew Alana was worried about getting too emotional and crying while reading out her vows so I asked if they’d like to forgo tradition (of the groom always going first for The Asking, The Vows and The Exchange of Rings) and suggested a lighthearted round of rock, paper, scissors.

It really helped to break the ice.

The semi-circle ceremony chairs setup was instrumental in giving the ceremony a sense of community and togetherness. I love it and wish more couples would embrace the ‘no aisle - we’re all family’ approach.

I hope you love having a sneak peak into Alana and Peter’s day just as much as I loved creating and conducting their warm and quirky ceremony.

These are the days that we’re truly grateful for.

Congrats again Mr & Mrs Damin! x
